@MAKS23 if I would have been living in the Republic of #Karelia (it's classes as a terrorist organisation by #fsb ), then I would have taken up that according to the agreement #soviet union signed with the #Karelians they have the right to vote to leave #russia with the option to either become part of #Finland or gain #Independence and Finland is the one verifying the referendum, which means #putin has less chance to cheat...

The #Finnish ambassador #MarjaLiivala visited the cemetery in #Sandarmoh #Karelia to honor the victims of #stalin #terror in the end of the 1930's.
Many of the victims were #Finns #Americans and native #Karelians and of course #russians too.

@Helgi large part of today's Russia has been inhabited by Finnic people, the close by people tend to speak a language that was understandable for it's neighboring people, the #Vikings did often hire #Finns and #Karelians to guide them down to #Byzantium

There are around 40-50% in north western Russia who can trace their ancestry to Finns, except in #Karelia and #Ingria where many has moved to #Finland in the 1990s as they were treated as of Finnish ancestry and could move back home.

It seems #AFU has nowadays #Karelians fighting in the #Karelian National Battalion #KNB together with #Ukraine against the occupation forces of the
#Fascist #Russia
