#Sunday thoughts: I’d like to share something personal. I hate #Nextcloud. The reason is simple—it’s slow and has large number of  js files, which makes it too heavy and incompatible with older browsers. Additionally, Nextcloud doesn’t seem to care about its community, making it as commercial as OwnCloud. There are many excellent developers who have created great add-ons, but in new versions they no longer work because they are incompatible. You do something cool and from the very beginning you are already in a losing position.Yes, I know, it's sad... So! I’m looking for a lightweight alternative to Nextcloud. I’m currently trying out #KaraDAV because I just need something simple for syncing files. I'm still looking for a lightweight #nextcloud alternative. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to try them

My alternative to #NextCloud, #KaraDAV, just had a new beta release.

This is a fast #WebDAV server with integrated web UI for file management, and compatibility with NextCloud, ownCloud and OpenCloud desktop and mobile apps.

This new version adds support for integrating external apps (as iframes, but with authentication), a brand new design and logo, and a complete overhaul of the file manager UI.

Next step might be to add multiple language support if I have some time

We just fixed some issues with using the Nextcloud apps with our #KaraDAV & #Akkoma integration here on outmo.de. There is also some ongoing works on updating our #Filestash app at https://files.outmo.de
Please let us know if you are interested in increasing your cloud storage space, as we might offer this to regular donators soon.

I wrote up a quick tutorial on how to link #karadav with accounts in #Akkoma here: https://meta.akkoma.dev/t/webdav-cloud-storage/466/2

Its working quite nicely overall and I will add it as an option for #webdav cloud storage here on our instance.

Intentionally it will not be a lot of storage as we would like to avoid that people upload all their holiday pictures to our server, but it should be sufficient to sync notes or bookmarks etc. between devices
