... An hour and a small pile of plastic clippings and filings later, I managed to fit the screen in the original top part of the case.

They weren't lying! The screen is a bit bigger on the front, but required a lot more room on the back. You have to remove everything but a 2mm edge underneath the bezel of the screen, to which it adheres with some heavy duty double sided tape.

From what I hear, the screen is actually surplus from the old #Blackberry handheld devices. For this to work in the GBC, they need a controller board, which is fixed with dreaded #kapton tape. There is plenty of room for this though, and it seems like an electrically safe sandwich of hackish goodness.

Fully assembled, I turned the unit on and everything just works! Here it is, with a brightness of 2 out of 4. I turned it down to 1 afterwards, and that's fine too.

Not sure how much I'll be using it, but installing the mod was a lot of fun and very satisfying.

In 1967, DuPont introduced Kapton, a polyimide film designed by Stephanie Kwolek’s team, revolutionizing industries like aerospace and electronics. Withstanding temperatures from -269°C to 400°C, Kapton was vital in NASA missions, flexible PCBs, and thermal protection. Today, it remains essential in aerospace, 3D printing, medical devices, and more. Kapton’s enduring versatility showcases its innovation and lasting impact across industries. #Kapton #Innovation #Aerospace

Microwave Forge Casts The Sinking-est Benchy Ever

As a test artifact, 3DBenchy does a pretty good job of making sure your 3D printer is up to scratch. As an exemplar of naval architecture, though — well, let’s just say that if it weren…

By screening other #polymers, it is found that #polypropylene and #polyimide (#Kapton) are stable in the #electrolyte. Finally, it is demonstrated that reversible self-discharge of LiFePO4–graphite cells can be virtually eliminated by replacing PET jellyroll tape with chemically stable #polypropylene tape.

While waiting for a reply to my question about #kapton I'm testing the movements.

Don't mind the mess!

Aspettando qualche dritta sul kapton sto testando i movimenti.

Non fate caso al casino!

Maybe I found where to place the #kapton tape… but I remember it was all around the alumin(i)um block.

Any clues?

Forse ho trovato un posto dove il nastro di kapton serve… ma ricordo che era avvolto tutt'intorno al blocco di alluminio.

Qualche dritta?

Where must I place the #Kapton tape on the hot end of my CR-10 #3dprinter?

I moved the pushing motor closer to the hot end, to be faster to swap the filament.

Dove diamine devo mettere il nastro di Kapton sull'estrusore della mia CR-10?

Ho spostato il motore che spinge più vicino al coso che scalda, per far prima a cambiare filamento.
