Kisekae Insights #52: The Legend Twindriver

In 2025, I worked on a new side series for my personal project named Kamen Rider Decade: Legend Fighters, which incorporated elements from Kamen Rider Outsiders and Kamen Rider Gotchard, specifically the portions involving Kamen Rider Legend. The motif for Gotchard’s equipment revolved around cards for the first time since Decade back in 2009. After Ultraman Orb came out in 2016, there have been people floating around ideas of potential fusion forms, even if the suits were too distinctly designed to be viable for fusion. And then in 2023, we got Kamen Rider Gotchard. As with every Kamen Rider series, Bandai released Legend Rider versions of the transformation trinkets, leading to the Legend Rider Chemy Cards. They were used as part of Kamen Rider Legend’s involvement in the series and Legend Rider fusion forms were made out of them. For Decade Legend Fighters, I decided to make it a whole thing. As a preview to this new side series, let’s take a look at the Legend Twindriver and the other equipment that will be used in the series. There are five “original” riders in the series, namely Legend Decade, Legend Wizard, Legend Drive, Legend Den-O and Legend Kuuga. Their common transformation belt is the Legend Twindriver, which is essentially the same as the Gotchardriver but with the orange bits coloured magenta. Here is an artist’s impression: Like with the Gotchardriver, the Legend Twindriver also supports the use of attachments for powerups or alternate Riders. WizarMagic Spec adds an epithet phrase to the announcement, and while DriveBurst Spec uses the same card combos, the form names are different. The drivers are voiced by Mark Okita with backing voices from Katsuyuki Konishi and Haru Shinonome (in the case of WizarMagic Spec). His belt, the Zeni Zi-O Driver, is based on a combination of the Ohma Zi-O Driver and the card slot portion of the Zein Driver without the “card-cutting” function. The Zeni Zi-O Driver, like the Ohma Zi-O Driver and Zi-O’s equipment, is voiced by Rikiya Koyama. Zeni Zi-O Transformation: 天国ノ刻! 最浄! 最愛! 最絶! 最超神! ゼンイジオウ! “Tengoku no toki! Saijō! Saiai! Saizetsu! Kamen Rider Legend is also in this series, but I won’t detail his equipment voices here since there’s little variation to them and you know what they are anyway. The only difference is that when a Rider Card is inserted, the Legendriver announces “Kamen Ride!” in a more upbeat tone like how the Diendriver (Gunmorpher) announced it in the Cho Den-O movie, or in the same way that “Chemy Ride!” was announced. Seriously, how can he call them “Ride Chemy Cards” when he didn’t know about them before meeting Gotchard? Now how about those weapons? Given that the Legend Twindriver runs on Legend Rider powers, it is reasonable that their users can use the weapons of the Riders their forms are based on. However, the weapons from Gotchard have also been brought over into this series and are used by some of the Riders. Ridebuster Based on the Gotchargegun. Up to 3 Rider Cards can be scanned. This has been the equipment used in Decade Legend Fighters. The story of that series will be told at a later date, but now, we’re about to get into the meat of this run of Kisekae Insights as we move onto Three Kingdoms.
