Amsterdam (QNN) – Un groupe médical néerlandais a nominé pour le prix Nobel de la paix le Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, le pédiatre palestinien directeur de l'hôpital Kamal Adwan au nord de Gaza, enlevé par l'armée israélienne.

La nomination a été soumise par Médecins pour Gaza aux Pays-Bas et annoncée par The Rights Forum, une organisation néerlandaise de défense des droits humains.

Le Dr Abu Safiya est devenu un symbole de courage pendant les mois de siège de l'hôpital Kamal Adwan où il a continué à soigner des civils blessés sous les bombardements israéliens incessants.

Le fils du Dr Abu Safiya, Ibrahim, âgé de 15 ans, a été tué lors d'une frappe de drones israéliens visant à l'intimider et à le pousser à abandonner son travail mais il l'a refusé.

Il est resté à l'intérieur de l'hôpital assiégé jusqu'à son enlèvement par les soldats israéliens. Il a servi de bouclier humain avant d'être arrêté. Il est actuellement détenu sans procès dans les prisons israéliennes, où les signalements de torture et de négligence médicale sont nombreux.

Dans sa lettre ouverte au Comité Nobel norvégien, Médecins pour Gaza a décrit Abu Safiya comme « un homme d'un courage extraordinaire, d'une humanité inébranlable et d'un dévouement sans faille envers ses patients ». L'organisation a déclaré que sa nomination « honore le sacrifice collectif des professionnels de santé palestiniens sous le feu des attaques ».

Israël a tué plus de 1 670 professionnels de santé à Gaza depuis le début du génocide.
Israël a également enlevé au moins 362 médecins, infirmiers et ambulanciers.

Le Forum des droits a ajouté que la reconnaissance de l'héroïsme d'Abu Safiya enverrait « un message de solidarité avec ceux qui continuent de sauver des vies dans des conditions impossibles ». La pétition soutenant sa nomination a déjà recueilli près de 34 000 signatures.

Médecins pour Gaza a appelé la communauté internationale à soutenir la pétition et à faire pression sur Israël pour qu'il libère Abu Safiya immédiatement.

« Le Dr Abu Safiya et ses collègues ont poursuivi leur travail de sauvetage dans les conditions les plus extrêmes », a déclaré l'organisation. « Leur dévouement constitue un acte profond de résistance et de compassion. »

"Two of northern Gaza’s last functioning hospitals have been encircled by Israeli troops, preventing anyone from leaving or entering the facilities, hospital staff and aid groups said this week, as Israel pursued its renewed offensive into the devastated #Palestinian territory.

"The #IndonesianHospital and #AlAwdaHospital are among the region’s only surviving medical centers. Both have come under fire this week, including shelling at al-Awda that happened Wednesday as The Associated Press spoke to its director on the phone.

"A third hospital, #KamalAdwan, is out of service, its director said, citing Israeli troops and drones in its vicinity."

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of #KamalAdwan Hospital, was subjected to "severe torture and mistreatment" by ISR forces.

Abu Safiya was held in solitary confinement for 24 days, before being transferred to Ofer Prison. His family hopes, that his release should be imminent as part of the (so called by media) "captive-prisoner" exchanges.
