@esoteric_programmer nice! I unfortunately missed that era, as my family had "only" a Nokia 1100 at home, but I read about them later. I wish #Symbian and its kind were still a thing (well, maybe #postmarketOS and #Mobian are the modern equivalents?)

While I use #KaiOS on my main phone, I also carry a #Mobian device, so I'm happy for anything that'll help improve location services on there!

(Side note: the #Furiphone @furilabs has done a good job of making a "mainline" Linux phone that works, though with the compromise of having a bit of #Android some layers down)

I'm excited to announce that #Convo, my #XMPP messaging app for #KaiOS has received a grant from @nlnet, or, more specifically, @NGIZero! 🎉 🤸

I can now turn what began as a quick project made in a providential three weeks of free time into an app that can...actually do basic things like add contacts 😅

More importantly, it'll make the open and standardised messaging protocol available to a mobile platform where few large players have dared to tread 👟

@james if their audience is anything like me, they're going to lose a lot of listeners. If a podcast doesn't have a working #RSS feed I'm not going to subscribe to it

(in my case, I *can't* listen to it because I have to use the #PodLP app which works on my #KaiOS phone rather than whatever app they decided to make which doesn't have a KaiOS version. But even otherwise, listeners have always had the freedom to use whichever podcast app works best for them, and this move attempts to take that freedom away. Having that freedom is the whole point of there being a standard broadcasting format for podcasts!)
