It's using the manufacturer temporary registration N879PK which was just released last month from an ex-LOT 787-9 repainted at PDX for Lufthansa with its new permanent German registration. Boeing stores not-taken-up (NTU) airframes at various bases where it has parking space, including SKF. After 15 days in the Boeing Portland Paint Hangar, the 3rd Boeing 787-9 (or any type 787) for China Airlines of Taiwan departed #KPDX as BOE758 for Kelly Field #KSKF in San Antonio, for either pre-delivery interior work or parking. I didn't have time to get to the airport - so these pictures are from home at a distance of 5 miles while taxiing and 8 miles on departure. It's just enough to confirm they actually did paint the plane while it was here. #aviation #travel #avgeek

Avgeek forum info says the temporary registration N879CJ is an ex-LOT (Poland) order which was not taken up (NTU), now acquired by Lufthansa. It's coming to PDX to be repainted. The other bay in Boeing's PDX paint hangar also has a Lufthansa B789. I saw a Boeing-registered 787-9 arriving at Portland #KPDX from San Antonio #KSKF, where it may have been outfitted and/or painted. The livery looked like Air Tahiti Nui. This is probably a test flight of a brand new airplane built in Charleston #KCHS. I'd guess the next stop will be Seattle Boeing Field #KBFI or Everett Paine Field #KPAE where Boeing has customer delivery facilities. #aviation #travel #avgeek #PNW
