when you accidentally started krfb that the libvirt vm spice server moved to port 5901 automatically and then I am there trying to figure out why looking glass keeps crashing

#linux #libvert #qemu #krfb #lookingglass #vfio

@jerry Given you're an infosec specialist & i'm not, i fear my reply will be far too low-tech & off-topic for your intentions in this poll. So, fwiw...

  • #AnyDesk & #RustDesk have worked well for me for years when i connect my #ArchLinux #KDE #Wayland pc to my dad's win10 pc to do remote support
  • AD & RD also work well connecting my Arch pc to my other Linux pc's IF i run their penguins in Xorg... but are incompatible with Wayland remote targets [this is now a major problem for me]
  • #TeamViewer does support Wayland Hosts & Remotes, but i HATE using it & wish i could purge it!
  • I would love to use #FOSS options like #Remmina, or #Krfb + #KRDC, but am too stupid to understand how to tell them the applicable network addresses, so i've never managed to get them working
Nice! I got #KRFB set up on #Kubuntu2204 and using AVNC from #fdroid to #VNC in. It's fast and pretty good for a small touch screen to a desktop. It will be useful to quickly do a GUI thing from the other side of the house.

Finally got my vnc_view helper script updated to support #krfb on the server (thus supporting #wayland thus supporting #SteamDeck, yay!). Was confused for a bit since they both obscure #vnc passwords saved on the disk, but in different ways.

Ended up writing a krfbpasswd utility similar to what vncpasswd -f does.

Anyways, it's all scripted and automated in my #ansible #HomeLab repo now

I'm now connected to my #SteamDeck over #vnc using #krfb on the deck and #krdc on my laptop. Now that it's working I can finesse the integration into my #HomeLab repo.

First step is to update my vnc_view script

has anyone tried #krfb #2304 for desktop sharing on #plasma #wayland it was supposed to fix keyboard input.

I've just pulled in the update in #kinoite and it does indeed fix keyboard input, but it does not interface with the screensharing portal, you cant select a monitor to share. As a result #vnc client has a black screen.

last release worked sharing screen, but no keyboard. Wayland remote desktop on #KDE seems to be one but not the other!
