La guerra in Ucraina è catastrofica militarmente ed economicamente, l'armata russa è bloccata da mesi con perdite enormi. Il disastro bellico fa precipitare il mito della Grande Madre Russia e accentua i venti di congiure e complotti che soffiano sempre più minacciosi sul Cremlino. Tanto che i servizi di intelligence di Mosca hanno notevolmente rafforzato la sicurezza personale del presidente Vladimir Putin. A seguito di un'ondata di assassinii di alti ufficiali militari russi e dei timori di un colpo di Stato, riferisce l'emittente statunitense Cnn, che cita il rapporto segreto di un'agenzia di intelligence europea, sono stati installati sistemi di sorveglianza ovunque, anche nelle residenze dei collaboratori più stretti di Putin. Il rapporto top secret evidenzia che "il Cremlino e lo stesso Vladimir Putin sono preoccupati" per la possibile fuga di informazioni sensibili, nonché per il rischio di un complotto o di un tentativo di colpo di Stato. Si temono particolarmente l'utilizzo di droni per un possibile attentato a Putin organizzato da parte di membri dell'élite politica e militare russa.

Secondo quanto illustrato dall'intelligence europea, il principale sospettato come mandante del complotto per sbarazzarsi o esautorare lo stesso Putin sarebbe Sergei Shoigu, un tempo amico personale e stretto collaboratore del presidente. L'ex ministro della Difesa, attualmente segretario del Consiglio di Sicurezza, "è associato al rischio di un colpo di Stato, poiché conserva una notevole influenza all'interno dell'alto comando militare", afferma il dossier dell'intelligence europea. Tuttavia, specifica la Cnn, il rapporto non fornisce prova di un sostegno delle accuse contro Shoigu, che in passato era considerato molto vicino a Putin. Ma gli esperti avanzano l'ipotesi che possa trattarsi di un'astuta manovra dello stesso Putin per fare uscire allo scoperto gli eventuali nemici nell'ombra.

The war in Ukraine is catastrophic militarily and economically; the Russian army has been stuck for months with enormous losses. The disastrous war is precipitating the myth of the Great Mother Russia and intensifying the winds of conspiracy and plots blowing increasingly threateningly toward the Kremlin. So much so that the Moscow intelligence services have significantly reinforced the personal security of President Vladimir Putin. Following a wave of assassinations of high-ranking Russian military officials and fears of a coup, the U.S. broadcaster CNN reports, citing a secret report from a European intelligence agency, surveillance systems have been installed everywhere, even in the residences of Putin’s closest associates. The top-secret report highlights that “the Kremlin and Vladimir Putin himself are concerned” about the possible leakage of sensitive information, as well as the risk of a conspiracy or attempt at a coup. Particular fear is held regarding the use of drones for a possible assassination of Putin orchestrated by members of the Russian political and military elite.

According to European intelligence, the main suspect as the mastermind behind the plot to get rid of or remove Putin himself would be Sergei Shoigu, a former close friend and close collaborator of the president. The former Minister of Defense, currently Secretary of the Security Council, “is associated with the risk of a coup d’état, as he retains significant influence within the high military command,” according to the European intelligence dossier. However, CNN specifies that the report does not provide evidence of support for the accusations against Shoigu, who was previously considered very close to Putin. But experts suggest it may be a cunning maneuver by Putin himself to expose any enemies in the shadows.
