Spotted on final approach to Portland Int'l Airport #KPDX: #UnpaintedAirplane Boeing 737 MAX9 flying as BOE964. This was the airplane's first flight, which departed from Boeing's 737 factory in Renton, Washington #KRNT. The pre-painted rudder and transponder telemetry both indicate this plane will be going to United Airlines. After landing it taxied to the Boeing Portland Paint Hangar. #PicklePlane #aviation #business #travel #avgeek #PNW

Interesting diversion back to PDX by brand-new Horizon E175 (regional jet) N670QX. The plane did its delivery ferry flight from the Embraer factory in São Paulo, Brazil to Horizon's maintenance base at PDX on Friday. It started revenue flights Tuesday. Today when @JetTip alerted me to the diversion, the tail number looked familiar. Since it's scheduled to retry the flight to Billings MT (BIL), it wasn't a maintenance issue, at least nothing big. Maybe a pax issue. #KPDX #aviation #travel #avgeek

Also seen today: there are always plenty of Alaska 737s at PDX since it's an Alaska hub. In this view, the nearest plane is a 737-800 taxiing for takeoff. Behind it is a 737 MAX9 taking off on Runway 28L. In the background, a 737 MAX (probably a -9) is parked in a ramp area the airport reserves for airliners that don't need a gate now but will later. #KPDX #aviation #travel #avgeek

BOE446 did eventually make it to Portland today, after repairs at BFI for whatever malfunction caused the Boeing test pilots to divert 2 days ago on the plane's first flight out of the Renton factory. It will be painted with registration C-GYYS and WestJet🇨🇦 livery. Other avgeeks looked up this 737 MAX8 is line number LN9714. Alaska needed a widebody-sized hangar on the mainland for the A330 & 787-9 jets that came with the Hawaiian merger. Currently their only hangar that big is in Honolulu. No room at their SeaTac HQ.
