On January 30, 1973, KISS (then freshly renamed from Wicked Lester) played their debut concert at the Popcorn Club in Queens, New York. Gene Simmons cold-called the venue to book a three-night stand, and the band performed two sets that night for an audience of fewer than 10 people (some accounts say around 10, including friends and family). They earned just $50 total for the gig.

🖤🎭 Throwback to one of KISS’s most unexpected moments: the music video for “A World Without Heroes” (1981). Gone are the flames and flying Vs—here we get raw emotion, solemn stares, and yes… a tear from the Demon himself. Gene Simmons crying on camera? You better believe it.

This video is stripped-down and surprisingly intimate, matching the melancholy tone of the song from the much-debated concept album, Music from “The Elder.” Whether you love it or find it baffling, it’s a fascinating piece of KISStory.

👁 Watch it again with fresh eyes—and maybe a box of tissues. https://zurl.co/z5SaG
