Unsuprisingly #kdeneon does not finish booting on the Gateway #netbook. But it does boot, I got all the way to a cursor and lost patience after 10 or 20 minutes.
For sure, a live boot version is going to be too slow with only 1GB of RAM.
But I'm pretty confident KDE Plasma will run on this system. I'll try Debian or something suitably lightweight.
I'd go ahead with FreeBSD but I had enough fun updating across versions and hard drives are slow.
I've now wiped the failed Fedora installation from the 3rd gen i5 Sony and installed KDE neon testing #kdeneon
A bit of a challenge since the keyboard on this laptop seems to be failing. The virtual keyboard is inconsistent at best.
It went absolutely wild with the wifi connection dialog, flashing off and on like crazy. But I got the password typed in.
I'm running pkcon update now.
Performance is good. There's a remote desktop feature.

@OurParadise mein #Lenovo verträgt sich anscheinend nicht mit dem installierten #linuxmintxfce und #luks. Bei jedem Stromeinstöpseln semmelt er ab. Auch mit Testkonto. Und auch nach kompletter #neuinstallation inkl. Neupartitionierung, mit/ohne LUKS, speziellen Kerneloptionen.
Mit #liveusb-Systemen (auch #LinuxMint #Xfce) passiert das nicht.
Die Fehlermeldungen betreffen #iwlwifi und #sata, ich dachte an einen #hardwarefehler (#Wackelkontakt?)
Jetzt läuft #kdeneon ohne Probleme.
