I'm looking for an English word that describes the behavior of people who tend to buy overpriced gifts on certain holidays because the TV and Radio and greedy companies tell them so.

The word I was looking for is…
STUPID.

If you want to buy a gift for someone dear, you can do that all year round. You don't have to wait until some "special" holiday only for companies to charge you more than what it's worth because of that holiday…
