A Minnesota state senator who was caught in a sting operation has resigned under fire after he was charged with soliciting a minor for prostitution. Republican Justin Eichorn, of Grand Rapids, submitted his resignation in an email to Gov. Tim Walz on Thursday. Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson said in a statement that Eichorn is doing the right thing “for his family and the Senate.” Eichorn has been jailed since his arrest Monday in Bloomington following an undercover operation targeting commercial sex involving juveniles. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday afternoon. He is married and has four children.
