The Bear

We're slowly going through this season of The Bear. I like the vibe but some of the things the're doing barely advance the plot. I'm finding if it's not my favorite characters then I'm not interested, despite how good the acting is.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps

I want to watch this again as soon as I can. I might be feeling fannish.

Sue is everything. A friend told me this was the Sue of my dreams and she was right. This was an old-school Ben and I liked that quite a bit. To my surprise I liked Johnny, even though I doubt his abilities to do what he did. I didn't like Reed, he didn't feel like Reed, why is this Reed so burntout already. The baby playing Franklin was the most adorable little pumpkin.

Jurassic Park: Rebirth

Terrible movie. It felt very much like the standard beats for an action movie were poorly connected by very little plot and occasional loving scenes of dinosaurs. I would like it if this tech would be used to make more Walking With Dinosaurs shows because I could watch that all day.

Ghosts (US)

The thing I like about the original Ghosts (UK) and this are which timeframes they choose to pull ghosts from. Because I'm me, I have Ghosts (AUS) to watch and am trying to get my hands on Greece and Germany. It's been interesting to watch the US version stray from the UK version and I can't wait to watch that again (and again and again).

I saw #JurassicParkRebirth last night. And so it is. But only as a slick, cynical, mutated marketing exercise that used all the tropes of the original in a slightly different context. In addition to the obligatory Spielbergian Family In Peril and American junk food product placement, there is now a wholly unbelievable Special Forces team.

Where the original had charm, surprise and a sense of wonder, this looks as if it had been written by an AI algorithm. The actors aren't much better.
