Curiosity meets the otherworldly. Balancing spiritual matters and mental matters.

Sometimes it feels like the only thing standing in the way between structure and certain chaos is the human tendency towards ingenuity. We are by our very nature creative beings. We dance, we sing, we discuss, and we love. Even when we are stuffed into our little boxes, we inevitably find our way back out. I want you to remain this way. Every time someone tries to compartmentalize your very being, I want you to continue to seep through the cracks and find your way back to the whole.

If you’ve noticed some anger or discord emerging (be it on a personal or collective level), know that this is natural. We live in a world that is overly cautious and overly sensitive to conflict. We are often discouraged from debating, discussing, and disagreeing. Instead of exploring disagreements and finding out where the heart of the conflict lies, we block it out altogether. But has peace ever emerged without struggle? Has freedom ever come without a bit of a fight? Have there ever been moments in your life where that which opposes ultimately connects?

Just as peace proceeds a storm, so too does a storm precede peace.

Traditionally Venus falls in its detriment in the sign of Aries (as its opposite Libra, the sign Venus naturally rules over). We’re a little bit more selfish when Venus occupies this sign. Selfishness is a quality often looked down upon, but for those who spend the majority of their time connecting with others, sometimes a self-centred break is necessary for the maintenance of close relationships and the fostering of community. There’s also a directness with Venus being in Aries. We’re less resistant to getting our hands dirty, more willing to be upfront when we see injustice. Venus in Aries asks us ‘what if you’re worth more than what you’re given credit for?’ It calls us to embrace being assertive, confident, and willful in our interactions with the world. Even in its detriment, Venus in Aries proves to be quite formidable.

At the same time, Jupiter stations direct in Gemini (which is also its sign of detriment). The philosophical force of this energy is once again moving full speed ahead. We are residing in a time when the fate of the world seems to be hanging in the balance. Uncertainty is the major pervasive influence within our current society. Instead of pretending like everything is all fine and dandy, it’s time to put our thinking caps on. How can we come up with innovative solutions to newfound problems? Where might thinking outside of the box get us? The first step towards restructuring the fabric of society requires that we step beyond the limitations of our own cognizance. Instead of generating ideas on our own, we can work together to optimize our collective creative potential. However, when we blend out mental faculties with those of others, we must be careful not to value conformity over unconventionality lest we arrive at dysfunctional outcomes. Allow differences to come alive. Lean into the disharmony, the rebelliousness. Grow a community that goes against the grain.

Remember that throughout this community-building process you will inevitably find yourself being challenged. Relating to others often reveals what we so meticulously seek to suppress within our own selves. In this way, the community and the self do not function as separate entities. They are interwoven and interconnected. The self feeds the collective and the collective seeks to understand the self. Acknowledge whatever wounds may emerge as you unravel from your cocoon. Care for yourself as you care for others. Remember that you cannot be fully present in community when your own soul is hurting.

Ease of mind. Trusting intuition. Prioritizing flow over rigidity.

Sometimes we find ourselves down in the dumps. Our plans go awry, people we value move away, work steadily becomes more laborious, and the list goes on. This energy is certainly not that. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. Fear becomes openness. Pessimism turns into optimism. It’s like we’re suddenly able to walk atop the clouds. We can look down on all of the mundane nonsense occurring below and situate it within the broader context of the universe. In other words, our perspective has shifted, our core being expanded into another realm entirely. The desire to be whisked away by the wind manifests as an unquenchable thirst. It would be oh so easy to get swept off of our feet.

Instead of becoming lost in the path of least resistance, take a moment to plant your roots. What does freedom feel like? Where in your body do you feel it? What prevents you from feeling this way more often? Is there a reasonable solution? Be open with yourself. Establish a dialogue with your inner voice. Allow the ease of curiosity to blend with the draw towards actualization.

Don’t resist the current, but be grounded enough to study it so that you may one day replicate its influence.
