A tribute to Ansel Adams - at the art gallery where I worked many years ago, poster prints of the Monolith, The Face of Half-Dome and Moon Over Half-Dome in Yosemite were top sellers. They inspired me to capture this image and many more when I was in Alaska. But I prefer to shoot in colour of course. If you love B&W prints and haven’t heard of him yet, you should Google him. Today I was able to fly in camouflage. The paint job of the Baron matched some of the landscape along the way exactly ;-) (see the third image)

There wasn't much room for the approach in Skagway: I had to fly into the rather narrow valley and make a 180-degree turn there in order to land on Runway 20.

Did you know Juneau is Alaska’s capital? I totally didn’t: had my money on Anchorage 😳 Never too old to learn something new!

The RNAV approach here is quite interesting. It gets you close to the airport, but the final leg has to be flown visually, after a 15° right turn to line up with the runway.
