Weite Landschaften, Pferde, eine Ranch fern jeder Stadt. Das ist die Ikonografie des Westerns. Doch unter dieser Oberfläche arbeitet ein anderes Genre. Dieser Film ist viel mehr ein romantisches Familiendrama. Ein Melodram, das den Mythos des Westens nur benutzt, um von Liebe, Verlust und vollkommen zerstörerischer Männlichkeit zu erzählen.
