Happy New Year! As we move into 2025, I'd like to celebrate the work of our @fairsharing maintainers and #FAIRsharingCommunityChampions over the last year, and welcome our newest Champions :-)

Firstly, a particular congratulations to @lnanderscience and #KayBurrows for being our Top Contributors for 2024!

In 2024, our Champions made over 2100 edits, updated 325 records and added 64 new records. Averaged over the year, that’s more than 40 edits, 6 updated records and 1 new record each week! Additionally, 241 maintainers (many of whom visited their record multiple times) made over 2000 edits.

Our focus over the past year was on updating all records in the #policy and #database registries, which is consistent with the large increases you see in updated records in 2024 in the image below. Collaborations also helped increase our coverage, such as the one with #JoyDavidson from the DCC, who led a @fairimpact_eu support action which added both more European institutional and funder policies to our registry but also Champions to our programme (such as #ClaraParenteBoavida).

We have many exciting things planned for 2025 with and for our community, including (but not limited to) our work with our TIER2 Project and OSTrails colleagues!

Do you have a thought about how #FAIRsharing could help your community? Please get in touch with us!

Support offer #4: Improving the availability and machine readability of data policies with FAIRsharing

Context In recent years policymakers at the national, funding body, publisher, and organisational levels have been working to ensure that their policies support the creation and reuse of data that are findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable (FAIR). Monitoring progress across the changing policy landscape is labour intensive and largely achieved through the completion of annual surveys and/or desk research.

Another new #FAIRsharingCommunityChampion for 2023, #JoyDavidson would like to build on earlier collaborations between @digitalcuration and @fairsharing to help increase the number of research performing organisations’ data policies available within FAIRsharing and to enrich their descriptions to make them more #FAIR.
