Il portavoce del ministero degli Esteri pakistano, Tahir Andrabi, ha sottolineato come “la pace in Libano sia fondamentale per i negoziati di pace con l'Iran”, evidenziando il ruolo strategico del Paese dei Cedri in un equilibrio mediorientale già fortemente instabile. La dichiarazione, riportata dal quotidiano L'Orient Le Jour, ribadisce inoltre la posizione del Pakistan secondo cui il Libano “rimane parte dell'attuale cessate il fuoco”, entrato in vigore lo scorso 8 aprile tra Teheran e Usa ma contestato da Israele. Sul piano diplomatico, resta incerta la possibilità di un dialogo diretto tra Beirut e Tel Aviv. Dopo un post del presidente statunitense Donald Trump che ipotizzava un colloquio tra i leader dei due Paesi, un funzionario libanese – rimasto anonimo – ha dichiarato all'Associated Press che non esistono “informazioni” su contatti di alto livello imminenti. Tuttavia, secondo quanto riferito dal The Times of Israel, il primo ministro Benjamin Netanyahu dovrebbe parlare oggi con il presidente libanese Joseph Aoun, segnale di un possibile riavvicinamento, almeno sul piano formale.

Nel frattempo, la situazione sul terreno resta estremamente tesa. L'esercito israeliano ha dichiarato di aver distrutto circa 70 siti di Hezbollah nella zona di Bint Jbeil, nel Libano meridionale, al termine di un'operazione delle forze speciali. Secondo le Forze di difesa israeliane, durante il raid sarebbero state rinvenute numerose armi, tra cui lanciarazzi RPG, fucili d'assalto, granate e missili antiaerei. L'operazione avrebbe inoltre causato la morte di “numerosi” militanti del gruppo sciita. “Dopo aver completato le perquisizioni, le forze hanno distrutto circa 70 infrastrutture terroristiche in un solo minuto”, ha affermato l'IDF, rivendicando la rapidità e l'efficacia dell'intervento. 

All'inizio della settimana inoltre rappresentanti israeliani e libanesi si sono incontrati a Washington con il sostegno degli Stati Uniti, nel confronto di più alto livello tra i due Paesi fino ad oggi. Un segnale che, nonostante le tensioni militari sul campo, la via del dialogo resta aperta, seppur fragile e costantemente minacciata dagli eventi.

The statement, reported by the newspaper *L’Orient Le Jour*, also reaffirms Pakistan’s position that “Lebanon remains part of the current ceasefire,” which came into effect on April 8th between Tehran and the US but is contested by Israel. On the diplomatic front, the possibility of direct dialogue between Beirut and Tel Aviv remains uncertain. After a post by US President Donald Trump that hypothesized a meeting between the leaders of the two countries, a Lebanese official – who remained anonymous – told the Associated Press that there were “no ‘information’ on imminent high-level contacts.” However, according to *The Times of Israel*, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to speak today with the Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, signaling a possible rapprochement, at least on the formal level.

Meanwhile, the situation on the ground remains extremely tense. The Israeli military stated that it had destroyed approximately 70 sites belonging to Hezbollah in the Bint Jbeil area in southern Lebanon, at the end of a special forces operation. According to the Israeli Defense Forces, numerous weapons were found during the raid, including RPG launchers, assault rifles, grenades, and anti-aircraft missiles. The operation also resulted in the deaths of “numerous” Hezbollah militants. “After completing the searches, the forces destroyed approximately 70 terrorist infrastructure in just one minute,” said the IDF, claiming the speed and effectiveness of the intervention.

Representatives from Israel and Lebanon also met in Washington at the beginning of the week with the support of the United States, in the highest-level confrontation between the two countries to date. A signal that, despite the military tensions on the ground, the path of dialogue remains open, albeit fragile and constantly threatened by events.
