One of the most well known art educators of the Twentieth Century was Josef Albers. The first time I saw one of his paintings from his renowned Homage series, I was struck by the simplicity of the project. It seemed...easy.
Before, during and after I realize that even painting "just" squares takes time, care, and practice. I've learned a lot about painting and technique, from seeing a simple square.
