Broadcasting Corp of China chairman Jaw Shaw-kong (趙少康) yesterday said that the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) “should not follow the Democratic Progressive Party’s [DPP] direction,” after KMT Chairman Johnny Chiang (江啟臣) had said that China posed a threat to Taiwan. Chiang was quoted by Reuters as saying during an interview that China’s “one country, two systems” formula for an unification with Taiwan “has no market” in the nation. Chiang also described China as the major threat to Taiwan, Reuters reported. Jaw, who has expressed interest in running for KMT chairman this year and in the 2024 presidential election, wrote on Facebook that

Question to all people into #Taiwan and its #politics: Why exactly is #JohnnyChiang, grandchild of murderous dictator and kleptocrat CKS considered a hopeful to reform the #KMT? He's a member of the criminal #Chiang clan, he still sees the #KMT as a Chinese party - so he misses out on 85% of the Taiwanese. As long as the KMT sides with the #CCP and not with #democracy, #civicrights and #freedoms, it has no place in power in Taiwan imho.
Oh wow, #Taiwan's #KMT really is a tone-deaf bunch. On June 6 the people of #Kaohsiung are going to vote on the #recall of failed presidential candidate and populist loudmouth #HanKuoyu aka Korean Fish. He has angered the electorate by neglecting his duties as mayor of the city, running for the Presidency within 6 months of getting elected as mayor. Now the KMT wants to run with #JohnnyChiang - so they still see that office as a step on the career ladder and not a lot more. #democracy
