Mount Ritter is everywhere. Last trip with my niece (and my brother in law) before she goes off to college. She wanted one last backpacking trip with us! 30 miles over 3 days from Tuolomne Meadows to Rush Creek, saw one bear, chose said bear, and watched a sunset while floating in Thousand Island Lake like a penguin. Good times! #backpacking #anseladamswilderness #yosemite #johnmuirtrail

South Fork San Joaquin River Bridge damaged - Pacific Crest Trail Association

The bridge across the South Fork San Joaquin River was severely damaged this winter. This large metal bridge normally provides safe passage at PCT mile 854.5 in Kings Canyon National Park across the river. Do not use the broken bridge as doing so may be dangerous. California's Sierra Nevada mountains are where I've been really wanting to be, at least until it got hit over and over again by heavy snows. Pictures from a day in August 2017 when the Kings River was almost too much: https://valhikes.blogspot.com/2017/08/north-to-south-le-conte-canyon-and-dusy.html

I'm always certain this trip was early July based on the snow, but somehow it was August.
