Seen in a tutoring job ad:
"[My son] is a varsity rower, so efficiency and focus matter."
Gotcha... so I'll be efficient and focused for your son but not for other students.
(Newsflash: I'm always focused and efficient, varsity rower or not.)

Pro-tip, from a math tutor:
When you post a tutoring job ad, be as specific as possible with your ad.
Someone posted an ad.
I replied immediately.
They came to me 1.5 hours after their posting with requirements that were not in the original ad.
Did they conceive of those requirements between having posted the and contacting me?
I doubt it.
They just underspecified in the ad, and corrected that when they decided to talk to me.
We could have saved us both some time if the specifications had been clearly laid out in the original ad, because, guess what,? I would have passed.
Their requirements were legitimate, but I just don't work the way they want. I also have to say that if I had known those requirements, I would have asked for more money. It seems to me what they wanted was more a *teacher* than a *tutor*.
So I passed. I was polite. I did not berate them... but I passed on the offer.
Seen in a job ad:
"I'd like a tutor who can help."
(This was the entire ad.)
It is very important to specify that you'd like a tutor *who can help*. Otherwise, you might get a useless tutor, who just sits there and goes, "bflrpbflrpbflrpbflrpbflrpbflrp..."
