It's curious that Sam Groth is quitting Parliament (some media are saying quitting politics entirely), when only 18 months ago, he expressed a desire to be Premier of Victoria.
Sam Groth had several obstacles standing in his way:
- Sam Groth has played second-fiddle as Deputy under Brad Battin, and now Jess Wilson. He lasted approximately six weeks as Jess Wilson's Deputy Leader, which suggests he's not cut-out to be Deputy, or that he lacks loyalty to the leader. His entitlement made him blind to that.
- Sam Groth could never could become Leader of the Victorian Liberal Party without support of the party. His resignation letter was filled with bitterness toward the party. His entitlement made him blind to that.
- The LNP have little hope of beating the ALP in the next state election, which is tipped to be late November this year. His entitlement made him blind to that.
- The media keep digging-up dirt on Sam Groth. They've published articles suggesting he's done travel-rorts, and might have a drinking-problem. But, by far the most disturbing thing Sam Groth has done was while he was a tennis Coach for his now-wife -- they began a relationship when he was 23 or 24 and she was only 17 years old.
