#JerrabomberraWetlands, #Canberra this afternoon.

There were two (apparently young) #Rakali (water rats) presenting very nicely in the drainage ditch.

Some #birds from #JerrabomberraWetlands in #Canberra #Australia this evening. A few Latham's Snipe were showing. The Red-browed Finches were feeding on grass heads and a couple of Baillon's Crakes came out of the reeds (these are two shots of the same individual).

Freckled #Duck at #JerrabomberraWetlands in #Canberra yesterday afternoon. It insisted on just swimming diagonally away from me, so this was my best shot.

It seems a strange #bird. On one level, it's going for such a nondescript look that it registers just as "duck", but on the other, it's so subtly weird, I find myself wondering what makes it so much not quite like other ducks and how it lives its life.

Baillon's Crake and Australian Crake both showing today at #JerrabomberraWetlands in #Canberra. Over the last seven months, I've seen four rail/crake species in the exact same spot: Buff-banded #Rail, Spotless #Crake, Baillon's Crake and Australian Crake.

A fabulously hideous morning was spent hacking through the 2 metre high reeds in Kelly's Swamp at #JerrabomberraWetlands today. Hot, prickly work, muddy and dangerous underfoot, blackberries intertwined with reeds, but we managed to 'cut and dab' quite a lot of exotic saplings. Glad they're such a lovely bunch of people, and Chris our ranger is a delight. We had a delicious lunch at Wildflour afterwards. No pain, no gain! #volunteering
Off to headhunt some volunteers for #JerrabomberraWetlands, at the Canberra City Farm Open Day. Come on down to the Farm, folks! A fun day ahead. #Canberra #volunteering
Foggy start to a ride this morning...

Spent the morning wading through the reeds (over our heads) and cutting down exotic tree saplings in the swamp. Very African Queen. Exhausted, but in a good way. #JerrabomberraWetlands
Another morning sloshing about in the mud at #JerrabomberraWetlands. #volunteering #canberra
First volunteering day for the year at #JerrabomberraWetlands #cbr. Whacked on the waders and slashed the reeds then pulled them up on the bank. Worked off a few Chrissy kilos.
