The best of books of 2024
Eccoci all’appuntamento obbligato per chiunque scriva di libri nell’internet. La CLASSIFICA. Il Best of. Il podio.
Prima di tutto: no. Non ve lo dico quanti libri ho letto quest’anno. Non è una gara e lo sapete meglio di me.
Però voglio parlare dei libri che più mi hanno colpito, di quelli che mi hanno accompagnato anche a lettura finita, a quelli che mi hanno fatto sentire fortunata a essere una lettrice. Voglio parlare dei libri che hanno cambiato il mio modo di pensare ad alcune cose, dei libri che ho letto proprio nel momento giusto, delle storie che mi hanno fatto ridere e che mi hanno portato buonumore.
Quindi, in ordine sparso, my best of 2024.
Povere creature, di Alasdair Gray, è stata una lettura per me fulminante. Ne ho già parlato quindi non mi dilungherò. Magari vi consiglio di dare un occhio a tutto il catalogo di Safarà in quanto è una miniera di perle rare.
(Tra l’altro mi è stato segnalato da più parti che Scartafaccio e Safarà hanno significati simili. Ne parla il buon Tiziano Sclavi in uno dei suoi romanzi.)
Altro libro che ho amato profondamente è stato La città delle navi di China Miéville. Anche questo lo ritrovate per il blog. China Miéville è in assoluto l’autore che consiglio a tutti quelli che mi guardano schifati quando dico che leggo fantastico. Spero gli esploda il cervello.
Anche Le diecimila porte di January è un fantasy che ho letto con profondo piacere. Il potere immaginifico di Alix E. Harrows, che avevo già potuto gustare con Streghe in eterno, qui brilla ancora di più. Mi ha ricordato per certi versi la trilogia delle Oscure Materie di Pullman ma più colorato.
Notti al circo di Angela Carter è stato un trip magnifico. E i personaggi di Nettle & Bone mi hanno fatto tornare la voglia di scrivere. Spero che di Kingfisher venga al più presto tradotta tutta la produzione.
Ma ho letto anche libri di autor* italian*! Qui quelli che mi hanno colpito di più.
Le follie di Caligola di Roberto Riccioli perché, analogamente a Kebabbari vs. Alieni di Borgogni, mi ha fatto molto ridere.
La coda delle lucertole di Alice Cervia perché trovo che sia una voce molto interessante tra gli emergenti.
Trofeo di Emanuela Cocco perché è un pugno nello stomaco. Punto.
Segnalo inoltre le opere uscite quest’anno di due persone che sono amiche di lunga data dello Scartafaccio: Ventitrè: Il Ceppo di Simone Cicali e The Gummy Bears Experience di Giuliano Olivotto.
Ma il 2024 è stato anche un anno di profonda introspezione. Ho pensato molto a come funziona la produzione di cultura oggi, a come siamo tutti diventati promotori di noi stessi, a come siamo in balia degli interessi economici di mostri gargantueschi che vogliono solo spremere ogni goccia di attenzione dai nostri poveri cervelli.
Complici di queste riflessioni sono stati libri che hanno incrociato la mia via e hanno lasciato un segno: ho apprezzato per esempio Riavviare il sistema di Valerio Bassan, che spiega in maniera chiara come si è evoluto quel mondo scintillante che chiamiamo il web e cosa è andato storto. Sempre all’interno dello stesso percorso rientra anche il brillante Come non fare niente di Jenny Odell, che è stato il saggio più denso e a tratti complicato che ho letto quest’anno.
Quindi ecco qua: il mio best of 2024.
