These are my reads for October.

Reading The Grandest Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes again gave me a chance to notice things that I missed the first time. Just like the first time I read this book, the chemistry between Rohan and Savannah and Grayson and Lyra was great. But I was able to see a lot more in the little moments between characters because I already knew the plot. Overall, this was a good refresher before reading the newest book.

The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix was two star read for me because the gruesome body horror was too much for me. I did like that he wrote about topics, such as misconceptions about housewives and the ‘simplicity’ of their roles.

Glorious Rivals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes was such a great continuation to Grayson and Lyra’s story. The development between Rohan and Savannah was also amazing. However, Gigi’s character development was my favorite part. I love how she is known as a bubbly person, but deep down, she always feels inferior to her twin sister, and her bubbly personality is just a way to distract others from this. This is such a contrast to Savannah’s cold exterior that hides her own insecurities. I can't wait to read the next book!

I re-read Assistant to the Villain and Apprentice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer and loved it as much as the first time. I can't wait to read the newest book in the series, Accomplice to the Villain in November.

I am currently reading Glorious Rivals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes after re-reading The Grandest Game. This book continues to follow The Grandest Games as it goes into the second phase. I am only 11% into the book, and the chemistry between Lyra and Grayson is so much better. I can't wait to see how the rest of the book unfolds.

The Grandest Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is the first book of a new series based on the world from The Inheritance Games series. This new series appears to focus on previously mentioned characters, such as Gigi, Savannah, Rohan, and Lyra. However, it also focuses on the previous main character, Grayson Hawthorne.

The romance between Avery and Jameson is one of the reasons I enjoyed The Inheritance Games series. However, I am ready to see more of Grayson Hawthorne and hopefully see him get a happy ending. I also want to see more of the dynamic between Gigi and Savannah and how their father’s mysterious disappearance will affect their twin relationship.

These are my October Hopefuls!

We are reading The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix in our book club. I am glad this book was nominated as our horror book because it seems like a good starting point for the horror genre. Although the summary makes the book seem more thriller than horror, I am hoping it does contain some horror, just not too much.

I am re-reading The Grandest Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes to refresh my memory before I read the sequel, Glorious Rivals. I can not wait to see where the storyline goes in the sequel.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart has been on my tbr for a while now, and I just realized I actually have the physical book. This mystery book seems perfect for October, and I can't wait to read it.

Adalyn Grace wrote The Belladonna series, and All the Stars and Teeth duology. Her novella Holly is coming out on September 30th. I loved her Belladonna series and cannot wait to read the All the Stars and Teeth duology, and Holly once it comes out.

Jennifer Lynn Barnes wrote The Naturals series, The Inheritance Games series and The Grandest Games series. I have read both The Naturals series and The Inheritance Games series, and first book of The Grandest Games. I love her writing style and how intricate her books are.

Abby Jimenez wrote several books, and I have read her Part of Your World series and Say You’ll Remember Me. I gave all these books five stars. I like that she includes characters with mental illness, and she actually goes in depth about these illnesses, instead of just having them in the books as filler content.
