3/ The big question seen this last-minute rift within the #KMT and between its mainlander and #Taiwan fraction is: How will this affect the outcome of the #elections?
Can the #KMT snatch votes from the #TPP thanks to #HouYouYi distancing himself from old-school #MaYingjeou. Or will #JawShawkong's ongoing and constant fearmongering of a *provocative statusquo* push more moderately blue voters to switch their adherence to #KoWenje?
This open election has become even more unpredictable. #FarEast
2/ While Hou tries to carve out a #Taiwan-focussed identity for himself by distancing himself from Ma's "better surrender to than being beaten by #China" talk, he's still on a ticket with deep-blue dinosaur #JawShawkong. The latter still backs Ma however, stressing the support he had from the #UnitedStates throughout his term.
Well, Ma and the #KMT lost support of the people of #Taiwan in the #SunflowerMovement. Maybe someone should remind Jaw of that "episode" of a maturing #democracy?

Hearing this sentence from the mouth of #China-friendly, deep-blue #KMT dinosaur #JawShawkong should ring all kind of alarm bells.

"Even I wouldn't want to go to #HongKong I wouldn't want to go to China either," he said.

Would you believe it? In order not to rely on Beijing's goodwill, #Taiwan should steer clear of any #submission.
#TaiwanisnotChina

So deep-blue #KMT dinosaur #JawShawkong does not understand that #HongKong has been brutalized into #submission by Beijing's overreaching #NationalSecurityLaw? Or why does he call on "Beijing to treat Hong Kong well"? The crime has long been committed, all #civicrights have gone, #JimmyLai is getting a #showtrial at this very moment FFS!

And this guy seriously claims to know what is best for free and #democratic #Taiwan?

Beijing should treat Hong Kong well: Jaw Shau-kong - Focus Taiwan

Taipei, Dec. 19 (CNA) Taiwan's main opposition Kuomintang (KMT) vice presidential candidate, Jaw Shau-kong (趙少康), called on Beijing to treat Hong Kong well at a forum on Monday.

From selecting deep-blue dinosaur #JawShawkong as Hou's running mate to the attempts to relaunch #ECFA (what happened to the #SunflowerMovement anyway?) the entire campaign of the #KMT for January's #elections has a pungent smell of wannabe-kingmaker #MaYingjeou. I can't say I like any of it. #Taiwan
#JawShawKong, the imbecile of a #China-friendly tv anchor in #Taiwan, has cooperated with #CCP mouthpiece #GlobalTimes to lash out at the #DPP for rising #food prices in Taiwan.
Yes: #inflation is a thing as in pretty much all countries around the world. Taiwan (which is a country and NOT a part of China) is no exception in this.
Still: Would you rather pay more for your food or have no food at all apart from some mouldy packages you get from the state IF you are lucky? https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/editorials/archives/2022/04/22/2003777008
EDITORIAL: Jaw pushing KMT into the abyss

On Saturday last week, the Chinese state-run Global Times ran an article titled “What else can Taiwanese eat?” about rising food prices. Using egg prices as its main example, the article said the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government was letting Taiwanese suffer, while doing nothing to curb the problem. Interestingly, the article quoted Broadcasting Corp of China chairman Jaw Shaw-kong (趙少康): “With nearly every commodity on the rise, what else can Taiwanese eat?” Jaw had earlier written the statement on Facebook in a post in which he accused Council of Agriculture Minister Chen Chi-chung (陳吉仲) of failing to set measures to control

In recent surveys, the percentage of people in #Taiwan supporting a "unification" with #China has dropped below 10%.
Seeing #Beijing trample on the #civicrights of the people in #HongKong certainly has been a factor in this.
Any politician entering an election with a pro-Beijing platform has no chance of winning a seat at this point. #JawShawKong is a non-seller and a repeat of the disaster that became known as Korean Fish aka #HanKuoYu. More of the same old school #KMT crap.
The latest spat between #JawShawKong and #KMT chairman #JohnnyChiang goes to show Jaw's disconnect.
In an interview, Chiang rightfully stated there was no market in #Taiwan for #Beijing's #onestatetwosystems model which has shown its true nature in #HongKong. And Chiang identified #China as a threat for Taiwan.
Now Jaw is attacking Chiang for this interview, saying that he is going down the #DPP's way. Taiwan's existence is NOT a partisan issue FFS. #DownWithJaw 2/2 https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2021/03/05/2003753291
Jaw blasts Chiang over remarks on China threat - Taipei Times

Broadcasting Corp of China chairman Jaw Shaw-kong (趙少康) yesterday said that the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) “should not follow the Democratic Progressive Party’s [DPP] direction,” after KMT Chairman Johnny Chiang (江啟臣) had said that China posed a threat to Taiwan. Chiang was quoted by Reuters as saying during an interview that China’s “one country, two systems” formula for an unification with Taiwan “has no market” in the nation. Chiang also described China as the major threat to Taiwan, Reuters reported. Jaw, who has expressed interest in running for KMT chairman this year and in the 2024 presidential election, wrote on Facebook that

Seriously: If the #KMT wants to become an irrelevant fringe party and one of the little cogs in #Beijing's #UnitedFront efforts against #Taiwan, it should go into the next presidential #elections with #JawShawKong as its candidate. Endorsed by the formidable (uhumm...) #HanKuoyu, this reactionary advocate of a unification with Chinese characteristics (read annexation and submission) rightfully has come out as the most mistrusted politician in a recent survey. 1/2 https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2021/03/05/2003753290
Tsai’s approval high despite KMT’s US pork campaign - Taipei Times

The approval rating of President Tsai Ing-wen’s (蔡英文) administration remains high, despite the Chinese Nationalist Party’s (KMT) campaign against the lifting of a ban on US pork imports, a My-Formosa.com poll showed on Tuesday. My-Formosa.com is a pan-green-leaning media company unaffiliated with the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). The approval rate of the Tsai administration was 59.8 last month, 2 percentage points higher than in January, the poll showed. Tsai’s approval rate was 59.2 percent, down 0.4 percentage points, and the rate of Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌) was 54.2 percent, up 2.2 percentage points, it showed. Su’s rate has recovered from a slump

Seriously:
Less than 10% of the populace in #Taiwan identifies as Chinese rather than as Taiwanese. The fraction of #mainlanders who only came to Taiwan from 1945 to 1949 is shrinking due to age.
As election data from January 2020 show the #KMT has almost no support in the under25 age group - so this party's disconnect is only getting worse.
Running with #JawShawKong as candidate in the presidential elections in 2024 will be a failure even worse than running with #HanKuoyu.
