Man, I don't think #generativeAI is going to take my day job anytime soon, but the ways that it's already drastically changed it in a very short amount of time is shocking. Still getting used to it, but I also don't know if I ever will.

I'm a content manager, and our CEO recently asked the marketing team to start looking for ways we could incorporate AI tools to be more productive. I started using #JasperAI and #MarketMuse to assist with content writing and SEO optimization, and it basically added a talented junior-level content writer to our team without having to hire one.

Don't get me wrong, even using these tools I have to do a lot of heavy editing, but it's honestly nothing compared to editing I've had to do on other humans' work in the past. My job is already transitioning from one where writing is a big function to one where strategy and editing are larger functions. Which certainly isn't a bad thing, per se.

But I do worry about the implications for those just starting their careers. It's not what I would have picked if I could have done anything, but for most writers, content writing is one of the last reliable ways to make a living writing. With the advent of tools like Chat GPT and Jasper AI, among others, I'm concerned those entry level content writing jobs will disappear.

So I'm writing a paper about how I think my #college should handle #AI policy concerning
#OpenAI #ChatGPT #dalle2 #jasperai #novelai #grammerly
#stablediffusion #midjourney
and similar gen models.

What do you think a school policy should be?

One of my professors included in her syllabus a rule that AI is okay to use BUT it must be cited, along with the prompt, result, what was learned, and output must be reworked/paraphrased/summarized but cannot be used "as is" and no quoting AI, because AI cannot author (and we don't know the training sources)

What are your thoughts on this? And what are your thoughts on what a school policy should be? Many schools are trying to block the models.

I've spent a few days playing around with this paid service leveraging #chatgpt to write long-form content. I'm either not trained enough, using the wrong tools, or in such a nuanced genre that #AI tools aren't capable of producing viable work...yet!

I used the #JasperAI trial for 5 days, and while the tool is GOOD...

!. I didn't feel their pricing was tailored to a single-user hobbiest.
2. 5 days wasn't enough to fully evaluate the product.
3. They default the subscription to yearly, and it ain't cheap!
