Services are verbs combined with nouns

Information architecture normally focuses on the objects that need to be represented in a system. Some human-centred practitioners focus instead on the tasks users need to do. These approaches are sometimes framed in opposition. But combining these techniques can make services and systems easier to use as well as more efficient to manage.

🤣 Ah, another 29-minute read trying to convince us that #tokenization is just a phase and that the Byte Latent Transformer is the new prom queen. Who knew we'd need a PhD in #jargon just to count boxes in the LLMs' toy chest? 🚮

The Bitter Lesson is coming for Tokenization

Highlights the desire to replace tokenization with a general method that better leverages compute and data. We'll see tokenization's fragility and review the Byte Latent Transformer arch.

Behold, the thrilling saga of "Revolutionary" UI Fragments 🤯, where we discover yet another web dev nothing-burger, now with extra jargon! Get ready to chuckle as #buzzwords like "modular" and "pragmatic" dance around in an academic paper that basically says, "Hey, let's use components... again!" 👏🌟

ZjsComponent: A Pragmatic Approach to Modular, Reusable UI Fragments for Web Development

In this paper, I present ZjsComponent, a lightweight and framework-agnostic web component designed for creating modular, reusable UI elements with minimal developer overhead. ZjsComponent is an example implementation of an approach to creating components and object instances that can be used purely from HTML. Unlike traditional approaches to components, the approach implemented by ZjsComponent does not require build-steps, transpiling, pre-compilation, any specific ecosystem or any other dependency. All that is required is that the browser can load and execute Javascript as needed by Web Components. ZjsComponent allows dynamic loading and isolation of HTML+JS fragments, offering developers a simple way to build reusable interfaces with ease. This approach is dependency-free, provides significant DOM and code isolation, and supports simple lifecycle hooks as well as traditional methods expected of an instance of a class.

💡 Oh joy, another self-help #jargon fest from Simon Pickles, who clearly thinks multiplying forces is the secret to world domination. 🤖 Just remember, none of this works unless you have #JavaScript enabled—because changing the world starts with browser settings, not actions. 🌐

Reluctant Leadership - The hardest part of tech is people

Dear undergraduate college/university #students in the USA,

I know you've been taught that it is "professional" to use #business #jargon like "reach out," "circle back", etc., and phrases euphemistically avoiding direct disagreement (e.g. "How can we resolve this?") or responsibility (e.g., "An error was made...").

You should know that many of us became professors partly because we did not want to be bankers or middle managers. In fact, many of us have issues with the commodification of the world in general and absolutely reject its intrusion into higher education.

For those of us in this boat (and I think it's quite a few professors), I am letting you know:

We fucking hate that language. Hate it.

😴 Oh joy, another thrilling exposé on how to *not* sell complex, jargon-laden formal methods. Because who wouldn't want to dive headfirst into an abyss of #cryptic tools like SAW and Cryptol? 🚀 Spoiler: If you're not in #aerospace, #defense, or you know, a robot, good luck staying awake through this one! 📞💤
