今日帰省するはずだった弟1は明日弟2を車で拾って一緒に来ることになり、今夜も父とふたりの食事です。
ご飯にはいつもは有田大日窯のくらわんか椀を使うのに、私がやちむん好きなので、わざわざ倉庫から菊唐草紋のマカイを出してきてくれました。

この鉄火茄子が盛られたカラシ色のうつわは、出西窯のもの。我が家でもう何十年も使っているうつわです。出西はやっぱり技術のレベルが違うよねえ、など民藝の話をしながら今夜もいっぱい食べました。

Back in Bizen ware land today, visiting ceramic artist Koyama Atsuko in Inbe. She does these really fascinating twists and bends in her tokkuri, along with great expressions of common Bizenyaki character.

Lunch was at Udo, the cafe in the station, which serves great food and coffee, on/in Bizenyaki, of course .

今日はまた伊部町の取材でした。今回は小山厚子先生のところで個性的な物を見せてもらいました。素敵な備前焼らしい景色と他に、個人的に歪みがある徳利が魅力です。

伊部駅のカフェウドで、美味しいご飯を備前焼でいただきました。

【Daikon Pickled in Red Grape Syrup】

I prepared these by salting radishes to remove excess moisture before pickling them in syrup made from boiled red grapes and sugar.

The result? A delicate aroma and a delightful balance of fruity sweetness with a hint of saltiness.

大根を塩で水抜きしてから、赤い葡萄を煮詰めたシロップに2日間漬けたもの。はじめて作ったレシピ。ほのかな香りとフルーティーな甘塩っぱさが良い。

This small shrimp features on a vase made by Japanese potter Miyagawa Hanzan.⁠

Made between 1925 – 1940 from thrown stoneware, this vase features engraved and modelled decoration, partly covered with a green celadon. Isn’t it wonderful!

I got some decent shots at the kiln firing for Shinkaigama 伸塊窯 kiln last night, with potter Yagi Hiroyuki 八木博幸.
This is a smaller two-chamber climbing kiln, and the temperature this time was around 990 degrees Celsius.
