Guten Abend meine lieben Lebensformen,
heute war ein guter Vogeltag. Es fällt mir gar nicht leicht was ich zeigen soll.
Ich hab mich für diesen Steinwälzer mit einer juvenilen (vermutlich) Mittelmeermöwe entschieden. Da fällt erstmal auf wie klein die Steinwälzer eigentlich sind. Ich würd sie ja Tangbuddler nennen. Zumindest den hier.
Tiere sind Freunde und kein Essen oder eine Plage.
Bleibt gesund, glücklich und verliebt.
Der schlimmste Seelenschmerz ist das Fernweh.

Today was a good bird day. It's not easy for me to decide what to show.
I went for this ruddy turnstone with a juvenile (presumably) Yellow-legged Gull. The first thing you notice is how small the turnstones actually are. I would call them seaweed diggers. At least this one.
Animals are friends, not food or a nuisance.

Auf Fuerteventura sind das ganze Jahr über Schmutzgeier (es ist eine eigene Unterart) zu sehen. Auf dem europäischen Festland sind sie (überwiegend auf der iberischen Halbinsel) Sommergäste.
Leider sind die Bestände auf dem europäischen Festland rückläufig, auf Fuerteventura Dank des Schutzes aber nicht. Dort steigen die Zahlen.
Der dunkle ist ein Jungvogel, erst ab dem vierten Jahr sind sie hell. Alle drei Geier sind beringt.
Tiere sind Freunde und kein Essen oder eine Plage.
Bleibt gesund, glücklich und verliebt.
Der schlimmste Seelenschmerz ist das Fernweh.

Egyptian vultures (a separate subspecies) can be seen all year round on Fuerteventura. On the European mainland they are summer visitors (mainly on the Iberian Peninsula).
Unfortunately, populations are declining on the European mainland, but not on Fuerteventura thanks to protection. Numbers are increasing there.
The dark one is a young bird, they are only light in colour from the fourth year onwards. All three vultures are ringed.

Habe aber heute dafür einen Raubwürger fotografieren können. Die sind echt garstige Models. Aber wer schon Raubwürger hheißt möchte natürlich nicht fotografiert werden, verständlich.

I had no luck with the hoopoe today either. I won't try tomorrow.
But I did manage to photograph a great grey shrike today. They are really nasty models. If you knew his German name, it would also explain why he avoids photos: Robber and Strangler.
