"Disaffection with Shaw’s performance as co-leader and climate minister has reportedly grown over recent years and one wonders if in the face of criticism he pulled away from the membership, or parts of it. Was he close enough to the deep-flowing currents within the party to realise rapids for him were fast approaching?"

The Greens’ leadership tumult was 50 years in the making

It wasn't so long ago that Greens were unconvinced of the need for any leader at all.

Good on Jack Tame for being as determined to have James Shaw answer his questions as he was with Winston Peters:

James Shaw today... quoted in the Guardian.

“I don’t think I’ve ever felt as sad or as angry about the lost decades that we spent bickering and arguing about whether climate change was real or not, whether it was caused by humans or not, whether it was bad or not, whether we should do something about it or not, because it is clearly here now, and if we do not act, it will get worse.”

James Shaw says country is entering ‘period of consequences’ for inaction over climate change as extreme weather wreaks havoc across the North Island

The Guardian
I hear #JamesShaw and #NZCCC are unhappy with the NZ government's decision to piss on the #NZETS Emissions Reduction Plan by refusing to increase the carbon price. What does it take to make NZ government commit to climate mitigation?
When #JamesShaw became co-leader of the #NZGreens, he announced a bold plan to rapidly balloon the party's membership. If that happened, within a few years the existing membership who built the party from scratch would be a marginalized minority, outvoted by newcomers. I have another suggestion for increasing parliamentary support for the policies the Greens have championed for decades.
