I got this cool Fly Or Die shirt in memory of my friend Jaimie Branch. TBH I'm feeling more die than fly right now, but I appreciate at least having options.

This is favorite Jaimie recording at the moment, with all due respect to her records as a bandleader. I mean it in the best way when I say she sounds like Wadada Leo Smith after about fifteen Jolt Colas. Highly recommended.

The shirt is from International Anthem, but I think they sold out. I had to email and sadface them into scrounging around for one in my size.

I came across this CD I forgot I had. Live on the radio in Chicago, 2008. Jaimie Branch on trumpet and me on alto sax. I don't think the music is much worth sharing, but it's nice to hear Jaimie, especially in a really focused, free, and minimal context. Not a direction she focused on as much in her later years. I was pretty nervous that night, and a timid, underconfident player generally in those days. Jaimie was inventive, tight, brilliant as always. I also played a solo set, and used some of the material for a mini-CDr release. Found a copy of that, too. Rest in peace, Jaimie.
