Jackson C Frank – My Kind of Folk (Ep 37) – Lost Radio Show Found! – Von Steve Peck
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMNQjvoxdOc
A previously unknown stash of the BBC radio show „My Kind of Folk“ has recently been recovered and restored by a collector and audiologist who have released these radio shows into the wild of the internet. Jackson C. Frank hosted Episode 37 where he was joined by the a cappella folk vocal group The Young Tradition and Chris Hardy, a whizz kid guitar player from a nearby college who accompanies the host. Jackson sings five songs including the previously unknown „Golden Mirror,“ an original from 1968.

Jackson C. Frank is the debut album by Jackson C. Frank, released in December 1965 by Columbia (EMI). It was the only studio album he released before his death.
Jackson Carey Frank (né Jones; March 2, 1943 – March 3, 1999) was an American folk musician. He released his first and only album in 1965, produced by Paul Simon. After the release of the record, Frank was plagued by a series of personal issues, and was diagnosed with schizophrenia and protracted depression that prevented him from maintaining his career.
Frank spent his later life homeless and destitute, and died in 1999 from a combination of pneumonia and cardiac arrest. Though he only released one record, he has been cited as an influence by many singer-songwriters, including Paul Simon, Sandy Denny, Bert Jansch, and Nick Drake. Rolling Stone journalist David Fricke called Frank "one of the best forgotten songwriters of the 1960s." - Wikipedia

Out January 23- Jackson C. Frank “1975 Mekeel Sessions” 12-inch from Antarctica Starts Here.
While the Mekeel tapes were intended for Frank’s sophomore album, it never came to be. What one hears is not a singer-songwriter fading out of view, but rather a singular artist who never stopped trying to build his own world—even when no one was watching.

2018 U.S. MONO Reissue
A lovel afternoon day trip to Victoria today yielded 3 really nice finds, of which this was one.
Famously produced by Paul Simon, and home to the breathtaking “Blues Run The Game”, I was ecstatic to find this reissue today.
I’ve never seen an original pressing of it anywhere, so I’m excited to have this, particularly one that’s mono and sounds STELLAR.
A real gem 💎
