@tompearce49 The #USA should learn a lesson from this. When fascism menaces, neoliberalism always loses, going further Left always wins. The #AOC's and #Mamdani's are the only part of the #JackassParty worth salvaging. Anyone who says anything like "wE hAvE tO gO WiTh gAviN #Newsom tO bE eLeCtAbLe" doesn't merit a rational response. Answer them with a cannonade of rotten tomatoes.
@ApostateEnglishman If I may offer a perspective from the #USA: it looks as though #Labour has accomplished the feat of becoming even more useless than our "Democratic" #JackassParty. I had great hopes for #YourParty initially, but they've now wedged themselves to the point that it looks like the best option in #UK party politics is the #GreenParty.
@DemocracyMattersALot AND MOST OF THE DEMOCRATS. It's no accident that when the #Republicans need a few #Democrats to pass obscenities like funding the #ICEstapo, they can always get them. And it isn't the same ones every time. They take turns to limit the damage to their image. Just as with #Starmer in the UK, they talk a different line, but when the chips are down, they back the same interests. I can believe that #Mamdani for example is truly different. But the vast majority of the Democratic Party leaders are wolves in sheep's clothing. #JackassParty
@DaveMWilburn @Nonya_Bidniss AND the #Dems have a LOT of problems of their own. Most of them are ALSO #oligarch-owned, just playing a different role than the open fascists. Their refusal to make any real inroads toward reversing the concentration of wealth helped to create the conditions where many were willing to take fascism seriously as an option. #JackassParty
@heidilifeldman Dems like #Schumer serve the #plutocracy as reliably as the Nazis do, maybe even more so. Their failure to prevent the already rich from getting the lion's share of produced wealth, created the conditions that could make Trump look attractive to large sectors of the public.
Yes, the Republican leaders are our flat-out enemies, but so are most of the leadership of the Democrats. #JackassParty
@tomstoneham And in the #UK, things like 30-month prison sentences for nonviolent protest are happening UNDER A "LABOUR" GOVERNMENT. This should be a lesson for those of us in the #USA who still harbor illusions about our #JackassParty. You can still have fascism in practice even with a ruling party that did NOT openly spout fascist rhetoric before it took power. What matters is not the rhetoric they use, but who they're beholden to. In order to end fascism in the #USA, getting rid of Trump and Vance will be necessary, but it won't be sufficient. It will ALSO be necessary either to transform the #JackassParty beyond recognition, or to replace it altogether.

But the real problem with the #JackassParty isn't the political positions they profess, it's the donor class they're beholden to, which is the same one the #Rethuglicans are beholden to. #Plutocrats who hate the public. This is true of all #Dem leaders except a few outliers like #Mamdani. The difference between (typical) D versus R leaders is just a matter of wolves in sheep's clothing versus wolves in wolves' clothing. And anyone who cannot accept this will continually be shocked by what they perceive as betrayals. They aren't betrayals, they're entirely logical and sensible hostile moves by people who have never been anything but our enemies. Turning the #JackassParty into a force for good will require a hostile takeover that must include ending the careers of nearly every recognizable name presently associated with it. And forgetting their names. #Mamdani has the right idea about that. But it’s not just the one name he said he'd never speak again. There are many, many more names that merit the same treatment. Attached: 1 image The latest calumny against critics of the #JackassParty leadership is that we're Russian propagandists trying to sow despair — that we're trying to make people think there's no alternative to the "Republican" Nazis. That's a hell of an irony, coming from supporters of the gang of #JackassParty crooks that has spent the last 30 years and more convincing the public that no matter who they vote for, the lion's share of the nation's wealth will continue being funneled to 0.01% oligarchs, and the 99.99% will continue to lose out. It isn't anything said by critics of the system that has led to despair — it's the track record of Bill "NAFTA" Clinton, Barack "fake hope" Obama, Joe "Nothing will fundamentally change" Biden, and a Congress so beholden to oligarch donors that they wouldn't reverse the flow of wealth to the already wealthy even when the #JackassParty had a filibuster-proof supermajority in the Senate. In mainstream two-party politics, the name of the game is "Heads they win, tails we lose." And until the present leadership of the #JackassParty is utterly discredited, that is how it will remain.
@quinn I would never call the #JackassParty "left". Their leadership may be less immediately toxic than that of the #Rethuglicans, but with the exception of a very few outliers like #Mamdani, they answer to the same donor class, and WE SHOULD HATE THEM every bit as much.
