I recently bought a new old stock my favorite Esterbrook fountain pen nib, 9450 "extra-firm posting". That is, an accountant's or bookkeeping nib, such as for posting entries in a ledger or spreadsheet. It is a good nib for someone with a shaky hand, and is extra fine in the traditional American way, or the Japanese way, or the way Montblancs were made in the 1960s and 1970s for the Japanese market, and not the way supposed "extra fine" is made by Pelikan or JoWo or Bock.

It is a stainless steel nib tipped with hard metal of some kind, presumably a mix of platinum group metals. Screw-in by what was commonly called "standard thread" but really was just what Esterbrook made and some other manufacturers—at least Osmiroid—made their nibs compatible with. (Venus absorbed Esterbrook, so some Venus pens also.)
