Quindi è una giornata importantissima, e credo che quest'anno sia ancora più rilevante, non solo perché tra un po' cadranno gli ottant'anni della Repubblica, ma perché in un momento in cui la guerra è tornata ad essere lo strumento che sostituisce la politica, credo sia assolutamente fondamentale ribadire che il 25 Aprile rappresenta proprio la sconfitta della guerra. Soprattutto, chi ha fatto la lotta partigiana e ha sconfitto il nazismo e il fascismo, non a caso ha scritto nella Costituzione che il nostro è un Paese che ripudia la guerra. Therefore, it is an extremely important day, and I believe that this year it is even more relevant, not only because in a short while eighty years will have passed since the Republic was founded, but because at a time when war has returned to be the tool that replaces politics, I believe it is absolutely fundamental to reiterate that April 25th represents precisely the defeat of war. Above all, those who fought in the partisan struggle and defeated Nazism and Fascism – not by chance – wrote in the Constitution that our country rejects war. Those who lived it indicated to posterity that it must be rejected and avoided, and I believe this is an absolutely fundamental point,” said CGIL Secretary General Maurizio Landini at a press conference at the April 25th parade.
