From China, Trump returns to raising tensions in the Middle East: “If Iran delivers uranium, there will be a new war.”
With negotiations with Iran stalled, Donald Trump has returned to threatening the resumption of hostilities. During his visit to Beijing, the tycoon gave an interview to Fox News in which he stated that the regime of Tehran “is finished: it can make an agreement or be annihilated.” In the interview, the occupant of the White House then explained that if the ayatollahs’ regime “sends military personnel to try to do something, such as recover enriched uranium, or if we see someone trying to do it, we will simply drop a couple of bombs and it will all end there.”
The only solution to avoid all of this, Trump continues, is for Iran “to deliver its nuclear materials and renounce the alleged development of atomic weapons.” And it is precisely the nuclear issue, the justification put forward for this war, despite US intelligence admitting that Tehran was far from possessing such weapons, that is the tycoon’s true obsession. In the same interview, Trump recalled that “we dropped bombs, each of those bombs came down, the entire mountain collapsed on that site (that of Isfahan, ed.)” and that regarding enriched uranium, “I would feel better if I got it, and we will get it.”
From China, Trump is returning to raise tensions in the Middle East: “Iran deliver the uranium or there will be another war.”
Meanwhile, The New York Times reveals a new behind-the-scenes account of the war against the regime of the ayatollahs, claiming that in the past months, in response to Iranian attacks on its territory, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates would have struck directly at targets in Iran. According to the US newspaper, this “top secret” operation would have been the first of its kind and could be repeated in the event of new attacks.
Reconstructions that the two Arab countries have neither confirmed nor denied, at least for the moment.
