Sunday Walk into Spring

A spontaneous riverside walk along the Isar proved that even modest outings can surprise. With frosty peaks in the distance and spring’s first whispers – green grass, some flowers — we traded grand hikes for quiet moments. Sometimes, the best adventures are unplanned, and the simplest scenes become the most memorable

Just added a 3min version of yesterdays #cycling / #mtb . Not a single-trail as @pfernandes 's video, but it was fun nevertheless:

Just wondering if I should also record some footage from uphill. But you'd just see me slowly fighing up a forest road, heavy breathing ... :-D

A lazy morning turned into a perfect winter hike

A slow start to the day left me hesitant about hiking, but I remembered that I wanted to scout a route. A day started with low expectations and quite some doubt turned into unexpected joy and even the first signs of spring!

A Training Hike with Unexpected Opportunities

Some days, the weather doesn’t invite adventure — just cold, wind, and low clouds. Last Tuesday was one of those days, and I nearly stayed in. But I opted for a quick “training mountain” hike. The closed summit trail forced an early turnaround, yet the descending clouds turned an ordinary workout into a surprise photo session.

Hey all,
today was a totally grey day. Very low hanging clouds. Actually a superb inversion -- if I would have had the time for a walk to the mountains. Yet other topics were on my schedule for today.

But hey, this is what photos are for: having memories about good time, right? I wrote more about it here: https://www.franzgraf.de/blog/2025/a-short-hike-with-big-rewards/

A Short Hike with Big Rewards

Not every hike needs to be epic to leave an impression. A short November walk to Seekarkreuz in Lenggries—familiar trails, hazy views, and a surprisingly sharp wind—reminded me that even common summits can feel extraordinary when the weather plays along.

A familiar Mountain never gets Old

Some hikes don’t need grand destinations or dramatic views — they just need to feel right. This solo trip from May 2026 was one of those satisfying days on a mountain I’ve climbed countless times. The route makes little logical sense, the summit is often crowded, and the descent rarely cooperates with photography. But none of that matters when the scrambles feel just challenging enough, and the path just satisfies.

‘An der Schwelle zum Tag’ / ‘On the threshold of the day’ #FotoVorschlag

Today’s topic of the #Fotovorschlag reminded me immediately about our sunrise-tour that I did in 2023 with two colleagues. I don’t do a lot of sunrise photos — but this is the one with the most emotions and memories 🙂
