The Easter 1916 Rising centred on the GPO building in Dublin. What is often overlooked is the fact that the GPO was the hub of telecommunications for the city. The July 1916 edition of the Post Office Electrical Engineers’ Journal gave an interesting account of the impact the rebellion had on the GPO’s engineering staff and the building itself.
