This #Christmas carol is attributed to Aodh Mac Aingil (1571-1626), a theologian and philosopher who worked in the #IrishColleges in Leuvan and Rome, most importantly on the philosophy of #DunsScotus. A proficient poet, he may have studied first at a bardic school.

He was Professor of #philosophy in University College #Galway (known today as the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG)) for many years.

"he first initiated me into philosophy as ‘radical thinking’ – getting to the roots of things" – Felix Ó Murchadha (Formation of the Self).
