4) Wajih Abed co-founded Fergie’s Pub with Fergie in 1994. He passed away in 2017.

“At Wajih’s funeral I did say if I was to say something to Wajih today, him being gone, I would say: We did it. We'd two guys who just winged it and opened up. But we did it, and we lasted.”

They say (who exactly?) that local supermarkets are a mirror of society. Well, this was a first ever for me, upon discovering that one can buy a range of very specific Christmas cards in Ireland, intended for the diaspora in other countries, amongst which, Australia, Canada and the USA. I know of no other country that does this. Zoom in on the photo to discover the endless possibilities when one has Irish relatives or friends living in far flung countries.

3) All this has been achieved in less than two years despite the legacy of past problems and staffing limited to outstanding young interns. It is beyond disappointing to hear that the current board appears to be engaging in some of the same nonproductive behaviors as previous boards' past. AIHS is now valued because of Elizabeth Stack's leadership; her loss would shred hard-earned organization credibility.
