As nice as #IridiumFlares were, they certainly are #LightPollution much to the dismay of #Astronomers...

@sundogplanets There's a reason why even passive satellites for radar calibration are explicitly anti-reflective in their coating and/or design.

@sundogplanets Yes, and Starlink is a massive pollutant - bith in terms if RF ?-Spectrum and Light!
Tho there's technically a constellation consisting of almost half a billion metal needles tho aside from some frozen gel lumps most of them are presumed to have reentered.
#Starlink #Spectrum #LightPollution #Flares #IridiumFlares #FlareWell #WestfordNeedles
@iangriffin that's nit a necessity, but what happens.when we allow #billionaires to #pollute the world.
People thought #IridiumFlares were annoying but those were just 66 Satellites and predictable af and #Iridium did solve that issue with #IridiumNext but #Starlink is just #LightPollution from hell!
@sundogplanets Also #Antarctica has the advantage that aside from a few #Iridium devices there's almost zero #RF emissions and the lack of air, noise and light pollution make it a good location.
And since 2019 there are no #IridiumFlares that could blind optical sensor or ruin images too...
@jk But #IridiumFlares were considered bad...

Oh well...

@TimBondy So basically it's like #IridiumFlares but with distracting frequency...
Because #Iridium did choose to have their replacements not #FlareWell...
