I have been holding off on this because I started to watch The Boys years ago - the premise that giving people superpowers doesn't make them super-virtuous was promising. But I couldn't take it.
Spoilers for Invinicble s1e1 follow.
I tried Invincible s1e1, and most of the episode was such a relief. Superpowers combined with light family drama, believable relationships, and the dad-teen dynamic really had me sold. Very wholesome. I was reassured.
Then I get to the final scene. Naw dog. The earlier combat scenes I can take - gunplay, tag-team rescues, real peril (Darkwing under the tank). But Omni-man dealing out brutal, vicious, and very explicit and gory death toward a bunch of terrified heroes? This is not entertaining. I do not need this done to my soul.
Is the rest of the series like this? If so I will skip it.
