Spined Soldier Bug With Breakfast. I had no idea there was such a thing as a predatory stink bug. I thought all stink bugs were all so-called "pests," eating your plants willy-nilly. Turns out, this little carnivorous gaffer would like to dine on your pesty larvae, if you could kindly offer him a little shelter. #bug #stinkbugs #beneficialinsects #insect #pollinator #nature #naturephotography #natureshots #wildlife #wildlifephotography #invertebrate #furrowbee #macro #macrophotography #larva #macrophotographie #smallworld #garden

I think she overshot in the imbibing and pollen loading, because she seemed to be in a rather snoozy state, allowing me to take 18 stackable macro shots freehand. #bee #sweatbee #insect #pollinator #nature #naturephotography #natureshots #wildlife #wildlifephotography #insect #invertebrate #furrowbee #macro #macrophotography #macrophotographie #smallworld #wildflowers
Orchesella villosa is perhaps my favourite springtail to find. I think it's the largest found in North America, and it's just so fuzzy.

#invertebrate are a great entry to #BlueSkyArtShow theme #soft. here's a Hoof-shield Limpet. 2nd photo is a zoomed in version of the first one, but I might have managed to photograph a limpet laying eggs. πŸ¦‘ πŸŒΏπŸ–ŒοΈ πŸ§ͺ #ShoreWalk #Photography #θ™« #EggCells #Nature

Brittlestars, sea anemones and a catshark among new-to-science species collected during expedition off the Queensland coast
The species were found in waters between 200 metres and 3km deep in the Coral Sea marine park, #Australia’s largest #marineprotectedarea, which spans nearly 1m sq km to the east of the #GreatBarrierReef.

In 16th century France weevils were tried in ecclesiastical court after an exceptionally bad year of damage to vineyards in the town of St. Julian. The church ultimately decided to grant the weevils a plot of land in exchange for the weevils departing from the vineyards, and the church threatened to excommunicated the weevils if they broke the agreement, or maybe anathematize them depending on the source. The weevils (whose populations follow boom-bust cycles...!) seemed to go away next year. Alas, in 1587, the weevils broke their agreement with the Catholic church and returned to infest the vineyards again.

I've got a sticker of this on my Etsy shop now too, if you want to be reminded of the excommunicated weevils on the regular! It's here: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/4499357861/weevil-expelled-from-heaven-sticker
