#CoastalResilience includes protecting California's wild coastal spaces and its #IntertidalBiodiversity now and for future generations. Time is running out for the California State Assembly to prioritize these critical funds in the Assembly's #cabudget

Every day is #Biodiversity Day at CIB, but today we can all acknowledge #WorldBiodiversityDay2023. We urge #CALeg reps to support #IntertidalBiodiversity and other measures to protect our state's (and planet's) amazing, interconnected species:

One Planet, Two Crises: Tackling Climate Change and Biodiversity in the Fight for Our Future

World Biodiversity Day reminds us that the profound crises we confront are just different sides of the same coin

Crabs, crabs, crabs! At the California Institute for Biodiversity, we STRONGLY support #CoastalResilience #CABudget funds to protect the intertidal zone habitat of these clawed coastal critters and the countless species that call the California coastline home.

This beautiful, strange, fascinating, cute creature is a Hopkin's rose nudibranch, aka sea slug! It's part of CA's amazing #IntertidalBiodiversity we must preserve, protect, and record with a DNA barcode library database.

We're excited that the CA Senate has a plan to prioritize #CoastalResilience funds, which will help protect the habitats of our favorite nudibranches (and countless other species). We urge the Assembly to adopt the same plan!

It's no surprise to us that California is number 1 state for #biodiversity. We've spent this #EarthWeek in Sacramento for #PowerInNature -- rallying for #IntertidalBiodiversity and #CoastalResilience funds to protect and preserve our thousands of native species!

What Makes California the Most Biodiverse State in the Nation

The Golden State is home to about 6,500 types of plants, roughly 40 percent of which are found only within its borders.

Day one of #PowerInNature in Sacramento! Our coalition is urging California lawmakers at the #CALeg to protect our state's #biodiversity.

Our staff is additionally advocating for funds to document #IntertidalBiodiversity with a DNA barcode library, as is already underway for pollinators, fungi, arthropods, and soil.

Today is #OceanDayCA - we're headed to Sacramento along with hundreds of other ocean advocates to urge lawmakers to protect #CoastalResilience funds in the state budget.

We're also making a special ask to extend California's DNA barcode libraries to life in the intertidal zone. We already have such libraries for pollinators, insects, fungi and soil - this is the next step.
