I celebrated #InternationalMarconiDay with my first ever successful #POTA activation. My wife sat next to me and studied the material to upgrade her license to Extra, and chipped in to help when I flubbed call signs, making this a joint effort. Did this activation SSB instead of CW because I'm not yet ready to handle a pile-up in CW and to make it a shared activity. But even SSB went a long way. 1071 miles on 5W, 1606 miles on 15W.

The unreasonable effectiveness of HF radio continues to surprise me.

We have had a fun evening setting up from Tomorrow's International Marconi Day. We will be operatinfg from the ex-Marconi Recieving Station in Somerton from 09:00 BST until around 16:00BST.

We will be using the special event station GB2MRS and the operating schedule is:

40m from 10:00 - 12:00 BST
20m from 12:00 - 16:00BST
2m - All day.
