Verbal intelligence predicts civic engagement and liberal political attitudes twice as strongly as non-verbal intelligence, even after controlling for education and family upbringing, according to new research.

A Georgia Institute of Technology study suggests a correlation between pupil size and intelligence. Larger pupils may indicate higher cognitive ability, as observed across memory tasks and cognitive tests. This relationship is hypothesized to be linked to the locus coeruleus in the brain. While intriguing, more research is needed, and the findings remain controversial.
